The nature of the world has changed in significant ways in recent years. The nature of work has change. The nature of the workplace has changed, both how and where it gets done. The nature of the workforce has changed, with as many as 5 generations at work today, who see the world in vastly different ways. And the very nature of choice has changed, as we’ve moved from a world of multiple choice to one of infinite choice. While the world has changed, our overarching style of leadership has not kept pace with that change. Even though we’ve made great strides in our ability to influence and lead others, a recent study showed that for all our efforts, 92% of leaders and organizations still operate today with some variation of an out-of-date “command & control” approach to leadership. This shows up in government, education, healthcare, and business in a variety of ways today. The root cause of this is not bad people, bad leaders, scandal, or … for most, it’s simply what we’re scripted for. It’s how work has always been done, but as we’re all experiencing, this kind of leadership is not fast enough, and doesn’t generate the kind of leadership needed to thrive in world of such significant change. The antidote to Command & Control is Trust & Inspire. Amidst everything happening in our community today, we are dangerously low on trust, and dangerously low on inspiration. Both trust & inspiration are learnable skills, and inspired employees and teams are 56% more productive than those who are merely “engaged” and 125% more productive than “satisfied” employees. The good news is that everyone can be a Trust & Inspire leader. Everyone needs this kind of leader. Join us May 2nd with international bestselling author and thought leader, Stephen M. R. Covey, as we explore how to unleash greatness within ourselves, and others.
